The 2010 “Digital Media Concept to Company” competition will focus on new product or service ideas in the digital media industry. The main objective of the contest is to encourage and support entrepreneurial innovators with the intent of helping them turn their concepts into a company. It is being held in conjunction with the Pushbutton Digital Media Summit taking place March 9-10th in Salt Lake City. The contest is organized and hosted by Grow Utah Ventures and Zions Bank. The premier sponsors of each contest are USTAR, Workman Nydegger, CFO Solutions and Ballard Spahr. Many industry experts and business leaders from Utah’s digital media industry will also contribute their time and resources. Got a concept? Then get busy and enter!

Who Can Apply? Generally, the competition is open to any Utah-based entrepreneurs and small businesses with a product or service innovation in the digital media industry. However, click here to see the complete RULES and qualifications.

What Do I Win? The winning entry will receive up to a $35,000 award, comprised of $10,000 in cash and $25,000 in services to help bring the idea to fruition. Two runner-up winners will receive awards up to $17,000 each comprised of cash and services. In addition, all finalists will enjoy a rare opportunity to present their ideas to industry leaders and form possible strategic relationships that would otherwise not happen.

How Do I Enter? To enter, first read through the FAQ’s and Contest Rules to make sure you're eligible. Then complete and submit your entry form by February 17th, 2010 (11:59 pm).

Timeline Of Events:
Entry Submission: Decemebr 17th, 2010 – February 17th, 2010

Initial Screening: The initial screening will take place from February 18-24th. During that time, participants may be asked to send additional information to the judging committee.

Finalists Chosen: By February 25th, 2010 a group of finalists will be chosen to present their innovations to a panel of judges. The finalists will be notified and given details regarding their final presentation. Those who are not chosen as finalists will also be sent an e-mail indicating such.

Finalists Presentations: On March 5th, 2010, the finalists and judges will meet in Salt Lake for the final presentations. Presentations will be given throughout the day and the judges will ask questions and rank the innovations. After the last presentation, the judges will meet and select three winners. However, the Grand Prize winner will not be announced until the following week at the PushButton Digital Media Summit (see details below).

Award Presentation: The Grand Prize award ceremony will coincide with the PushButton Digitial Media Summit on March 10th in Salt Lake City. The three winners will be spotlighted at the event and asked to come up on stage and present a summary of their idea to the audience. The judges will then announce the Grand Prize winner and the prizes will be awarded. The exact time of this event has not been determined yet.

Location:All activities will take place in Salt Lake City including the final presentations and awards ceremony.
